That is  "professional" level workmanship and engineering and I sincerely doubt that is "free" time  being spent . Somebody is definitely going to be paid for that effort .   It will  be awesome when it is completed and looks to be of European design by the structures and the trains.  J2.

Typical model railroader, way over engineered and way too complex for a simple thing like staging.  I'll stick to my manual staging and ground throws thank you very much.  In the time it took him to build that, I've built a lot of model railway and probably have a lot more spare cash.  :-)

My guess is that's for an automated model on public display. It is probably more reliable, and uses a lot less space, than a ladder of turnouts.
