Title: Bachmann Hi railer pickup truck
Post by: The Overland on November 12, 2011, 06:03:51 PM
Hi,
living here  in Australia, I have been unable to see, touch, hold the Bachmann Hi Rail pick up truck.
Can anyone tell me if it has enough room to fit a dcc decoder into it, or even if this is possible.
Thanks TREV

I just looked at the diagram and you "might" put a decoder in the bed and cover it with a load. Don't know about the cab area. A Digitrax DZ125 decoder is quite small.
Looks like you have to isolate the motor contacts as I see what looks like contacts between each frame half and the motor.
Only four wheels so clean pickups, clean track and clean tyre threads will be a necessity.

Thanks Rich, isolating the motor is no probs, done a few already on old locos. I think I might use an N scale Chip, as they are much smaller physically, and i image the motor will have only a very small current draw. And yep, looks like it goes in the bed, and covered with a load. Appreciate the info TREV

The DZ125 is Z, N and HO scale capable. There might be smaller.
