This must be an awesome collection for Southerby's to even consider handling the consignment. I wish the chap well as this is a very difficult economy in which to be selling trains (upper priced ones at that).

We have decided to only 'vendor' at one show this year due to the less-than-stellar sales we experienced last 'season'. We have to hope that things will turn around eventually as we have the opportunity to take on several more consignments.

Regards,
Ray

Since I happen to like "CBS Sunday Morning", I watched the piece on the 'train collector'.

His collection was the larger scale stuff, mostly European, from the mid-1800's to around 1930.  This is a very specialized, albeit large, collection.  The estimated worth, before auction, was in the tens of millions.  Wow.

I noticed he gave up on Lionel (sold it) after he quietly collected at least one piece of everything Lionel ever made.

Amazing...

Jonathan

Addendum:  I deleted some of my comments.  Somehow I came off sounding like "sour grapes".  Wasn't my intention...

Display maybe? I would rather run a $300 dollar engine than have it sit on a stand.

Gotta watch a 15 second commercial, though.  Sorry.
