Title: Replacement Gears for Shays and Climaxes in On30 and HO
Post by: richg on May 09, 2010, 07:53:58 PM
Are these gears the same plastic gears, improved plastic gears or metal gears?
Was any kind of evaluational done on these gears as I know NWSL actually had someones Shay's with cracked gears and NWSL did their own evaluation of the steel gears.
Before we tell anyone in other forums who ask, I would think we should know details. People will ask. Bet on it.
Thanks.

I had hoped that the Bach Man would have answered the question asked.

Have the gears for the Shay been improved since the initial production?

As this engine continues to be a big seller for Bachmann, the purchasers derserve to know it there has been improvements made to the gears.

Dear All.
The gears are newly tooled. I haven't seen them; I'll ask about the material.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that the gears have been re-tooled.

That would likely explain why the number of Shay owners discussing gear problems has
been so few.

Any chance that the Spectrum Climax may make a comeback now that the gearing has been changed?
