Title: South Shore Line (NICTD) Modeling
Post by: airport1246 on August 10, 2009, 03:02:44 PM
I am currently in the process of re-doing my layout.  I used to model Santa Fe, but now I would like to model the South Shore Line.  I can't find passenger cars to match the real ones, but have some Santa Fe ones. any way to convert these? ??? ( I would like to model the modern R.R. not the old one)

I don't think it will be possible to use the Santa Fe ones, because I don't think Santa Fe had any interurban type commuter specific passenger cars. Maybe try some amtrak/undecorated interurban cars.

A lot would depend on the time frame that you are going to model.

you might try getting Walters  bilevel gallery cars in either CNW or Metra colors .You will also need on gallery cab car for the train end since these cars operate on a push -pull system .  Meaning engine leading going out bound  and gallery cab leading in bound , trains are not turned to change direction.  John II in Marengo, IL.
