I'm swapping out the head and rear lamps on a 38 ton Shay with a smaller Ozark oil lamp.
It uses a grain of wheat bulb vertically.

I'm using DCC with the original Bachmann board striped out with the QSI magnum board.

I'm not sure on what bulb to use and what voltage? Anything through Radioshack that is recommended?

Thank You

Kevin Strong

Any grain of wheat or the smaller grain of rice bulb will work, so long as it's rated for the voltage the QSI board will be sending it. I believe that board essentially passes the track voltage straight through to the lights, so if you're putting 24 volts to the track, make sure you get 24 volt bulbs. Search the web for "grain of wheat" or "grain of rice" bulbs, or check the ads in Model Railroader or Gazette. I see them in there from time to time.

Later,

K
