Should be 18 degrees as it's a four axel locomotive so 18 should be easy.

It will take 22" just fine, I haven't tested it below that.

Oh whoops I was thinking of the wrong locomotive. Still, should handle 18-19 degrees ok, as I've seen it done many times with that loco.

I have 3 and if you have good track work they will do 18in just fine. You may have to add a long shank coupler to the firs car or rear of the 8-40cw to handle the swing.

Tyler,

A xx degree piece of track can be any radius--the larger the radius, the longer the track piece.
Radius of curve is given as xx INCHES.  xx degrees shows the segment of a 360 degree circle that a curved piece of setrack  covers and allows you to work out the number of pieces needed for a half or full circle.

Thanks for the info.... but I have one more question.

The locomotive is DCC and I run DC, will the locomotive run on my track?

It should, I believe Bachmann DCC decoders all ship with DC Mode support enabled.

I got some SD40-2s to bearly run on 18", I would think that the 40-CW would. Just be careful though. I'd go with 20, or 19" just to be safe.

Take a look at this:

The CSX locomotives are C40-8Ws and at 2:14 they go through a "S" curve. Is the curve 18"?

Thanks,
