Servicing William's Steamers

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but when I go to service either of my 2 William's steamers, a O-27 Hudson and a Turbine, I am having problems getting the shell off because of the wires for the smoke unit and the headlight. I had to ducktape the wire for the headlight for both of these and one of the wires to the Turbine's smoke unit came out and I am going to need to take that in to get fixed. Is there an easier way to do this?

I would also like to know this . I'm just getting started in Williams Steam and any before knowlege would be nice.
