this isn't a plug , but could some look at the "texas state railroad" site and tell me what type of steam engine they are using it's a 2-6-0 something it looks like .my gf bought us a round trip for my b-day the 18th 04 . from what   i understand its a nice trip i google earth it . it leaves palestine tx and goes to rusk tx both ways also they have a diesel . regards mf

I would love to see bachmann produce a 2-6-0, however I would like to see a diferent prototype. All the small locomotives avalible are based on eastern prototypes. Not everyone who models the western railroads want(or in my and many others) have space for the larger locomotives that the manifactures seem to think were the only things that ran in the west. I would like to see a locomotive more like this one.


However I would still like to see Bachmann make the B&M 2-6-0 since a 2-6-0 is needed and it's a nice looking locomotive.

For those looking for the 1930's passenger cars, check out Roundhouse trains.  Although the B&M livery is hard to find, there are many others.  And yes I was lucky and found some in B&M colors!

The roundhouse cars are foobies. The B&M ones were mostly 68 foot cars, although there were a few 66 footers, but the Athearn Roundhouse ones are 50ft. Their is a company that was going to come out with them in resin, but I don't know what became of that, and there is a company based in Methuen Massachusetts, who is re-releasing the old Ambroid Cars with new Laser Cut parts, and upgraded details. They have already announced a new production of the old Ambroid B&M Snow Plow, and I believe the commuter coaches will be coming out in late 2009/2010. It sure would be nice to have a 2-6-0 to pull a few...

The MDC 50' Overlands are perfect to model the 1870-1890 era. I have 4 sets, they look great behind Roundhouse vintage 2-6-0 and 2-8-0, and run well on my 18" layout.

The 34' Sierras (Roundhouse calls them "Overtons") were used on the steep and tightly curved mountain roads in California.

The original 2-6-0 Moguls were a smaller 3-B-A class. Some railroads, such as Rio Grande, listed them as 35 class. The first Mogul was built by Rogers around 1863. (scroll down halfway)

PD: Thanks for the link, I was able to confirm that C&S #9 Mogul was indeed built by the Cooke Locomotive Works. I have a collection of pictures when the loco was running at Georgetown Loop.

they should produce some diesel engines withe sound a PRR atlantic, T1 and other PRR locos and cars. I dont buy much from bachmann any more because some of the sizes of cars are off and details arent the best. I still recommend them for begginers but not for me
