  Mr. Bachmann,
It is to my curiosity why you only offer the 0n30 observation car in set's only and not in singular sales.
I know they can be had on the "online auctions" for a price.
So why not  from catalog sales?
Best regards,  ??? stumped....

Dear Loco,
I agree, but I don't know why...
Have fun!

El Loco,

I don't have an observation car; but, from the outward catalog appearance it seems a Bachmann coach could be converted to an observation car with a little bent wire and a drumhead. The B'mann obs cars don't seem to have a lengthened rear platform as may be prototypical. Am I missing something here?

     Pete,

Obs car has different seating---3 seat unit on each side facing each other at 'rear' end.

Eric,

I suspected there was more than just a railing change.

Thanks, Pete

The observation body also has large windows on the back end, so the folks in the facing seating can see out the back.  I have seen some on Ebay, from folks who buy a passenger set, and sell off the bits they don't need.  There is one on Ebay now, although it's D&RGW, and I know that not everyone feels comfortable with Ebay.

I aint got a problem with ebay I just dont care to have to end up in a bidding war Paying an exurbanite price.
Gotta pay to play. :-\ I wont be contributing unless it is a buy it now price.
Thanks for the heads up anyway. ;)

HHRR

Unless they have changed, the On30 observation car does not have large windows on the back end.  There is a narrow window on each side of the back door, and the side windows are the same size as all the passenger cars windows. My observation car is in my 10 year old Wonderland Express set.  One of the side windows is clear,  rather than the decorated one where the toliet is on the passenger cars.

:D I finally snagged one! Thank you for the heads up Manager! ;D

You're welcome.  Got to keep the trains rolling!  I converted one observation into a business car, complete with interior, and the owner of the line on the back platform.

And HHRR is right, the windows on the back are about the same size as the side ones.  Somehow they just seem bigger, I guess, because they are fixed panes, not double-hung, like the side windows.

I will be dismantling my fleet of passenger cars and repainting them all to match One interior I have primed stained the floors to resemble walnut flooring some upholstery work & and added some passengers. The rail road line sure needed the revenue  ;D

My railroad was inspired by the Bellevue & Cascade, Milwaukee Road's narrow gauge subsidiary in Iowa. But I am taking it a step farther, by painting my passenger cars in Milwaukee's orange and maroon scheme. Don't feel limited to the four car styles that Bachmann offers; it is not that difficult to kitbash a four-door baggage car, Railway Post Office car, dining car or your own version of an open platform observation car from the stock combine and coach. You have a choice of cut and glue assembly if you want only a few cars, or mold making and resin casting if you need a large fleet.

El Loco

Nice ideas. I recieved the observation car from TFS today it is a yellow Rio grande .  The remainder of my fleet is Green undecorated.  The urge to kit bash has been a thought.

Do you by chance have a link to some basic instructions for mold making and resin casting? It's something I've wanted to try, but I don't know where to start.
