Jerking at slow speeds on new 2-8-0

Mr. Bach-man, can you tell me what might be the problem with this new loco jerking at slow speeds.  We did some light oiling and ran it with no cars for awhile at various speeds and didn't find any improvement.  We hooked the DCC wires up between the loco and the tender even though we are not using the DCC at the present time.  Should that have any effect?

Yes, you must connect the wires securely. Run the loco at moderate speeds in both directions to smooth out the action.
