Car lighting in Acela n gauge set

I got my Acela n-gauge set running today with my NCE DCC PowerCab. I do not have the Bachmann DCC system. The instructions said that car lighting can be turned  on and off with F10. I tried F10 and nothing happened with the lighting. F1 worked fine for the headlights -- I could even dim them and make them brighter with some experimentation. Are there some better instructions available. I would like to know  what other options are and how to really turn off the car lighting. There are also supposed to be some ditch lights, which I have not  been able to find.
