I assume that TT gauge (1:120) would be a viable Sn30" for S Scale ...

... and that Z-gauge track (1:220) would make (at 16.5 scale inches) a viable minimal gauge (15" gauge) in S scale.

Wha matters is the gauge of the track, not its nominal scale for standard gauge. TT track is 12 mm wide, 12 by 64 (S scale) gives 768mm - or about 30.2 inches. Z track is 6.5mm and thus represents 416mm in S scale, 416mm is about 16.4 inches.

O gauge track is 32mm, so in 1:22.5 scale it represents  720mm or about 28 and 1/3 inches.

Glad you're still around, Hamish -- it's been a while since I posted -- a couple of years.

I suppose, however, that the size rails and ties must be to scale, however.  Narrow gauge isn't just scaled down standard track.  But you gave the precise measurements I was seeking -- thanks.

Further, HOn3 track gauge is 10.5 mm, or 671mm in S.  This comes to 26.4" track guage, which some modelers have used for Sn2 modeling.
