Bonjour,
If any of you ever wondered how they filmed the show,
you might find this of intrest
http://www.sodor-island.net/behindthescenes.html
there is also some videos on youtube,
I was amazed when I read that they are 1/32 scale, (G gauge)
My club has a couple of G Thomas engines, I might try to film my own series
hehe.

Hello!
If you are a new member, don't take this the wrong way and think I'm rude. Even if your aren't, still don't take this the wrong way, but there is a topic called "The Everything Thomas Topic, so this could've been posted in there. By doing so it creates less 1-post threads and keeps the boards clean.
Again, not trying to be rude, just trying to be "really useful".  ;D

Eddie,

As it says under locomotives, it says they are O scale locomotives and stock, not G scale.

Cheeky_ULP

The rumor is Season 1 and 2 were filmed in O scale, then Season 3+ in G scale.

I however am not sure, the Season 1-4 models definitely look O scale to me.

Anthony P2

i read somewhere that now they use o scale engines, and wen they shot the episodes with the pack and the NG engines they use G scale.

StanierJack

You are all wrong. The main engines have and till series 12 have been Gauge 1. The larger models to meet Skarloey & Co are Gauge 3, and the Pack models aren't exactly to a known scale.

Then what about that Marklin engine?

It's also Gauge 1. Hence why it was used, and that marklin locomotives have been used for mechanisms.

Anthony P2

what is this gauge 1 and 3 like what does it look like?

Guilford Guy

Gauge 1 is 1:32 scaled trains. They run on 45mm track. O scale, was originally Zero Scale, being smaller than Gauge 1. Gauge 2 and Gauge 3 are both larger than Gauge 1, however I'm unsure to what extent.

Gauge 1 seems very close to that of Large Scale.

Because it is. 1/32. 1/24 1/20 use the same track.
