Anyone interested in a little Civil Defense?

I love the Thunderbolt 1000Ts... Anyone know what material he used to make it? I wanted to try shaping or modeling some other sirens for my layout, after all, Thunderbolts were made in the 1940s. And I could always make some other sirens. Just don't for get the logo!

im not familar with these old air raid sirens
were these used for air raid warnings

here in n.y.c. i remember these large air raid sirens on top of
tall buildings they were silver and gray on steel frame bases

this could be a nice scatch building project

Hey I grew up in the City when they actually did air raid drills. I was in elementary school when they made us climb under desks. If you are interested in a very amusing video - Google the short film "Duck and Cover." If you do watch it, see if you can spot the young (age 7 or Mia Farrow.

Many of the buildings with sirens also had fall out shelters. I'm sure there are still buildings that have the sirens on the roof; why would an owner pay out his own pocket to remove one?
