How 'bout making the Russian Decapod tenders available seperately?

Is this tender compatible with the 2-8-0 or do you have to swap boards?

I have been changing the stock tenders on my 2-8-0's over to the medium (small) vandy.

People have been badgering Bachmann for seperate tenders for years.

We've also been asking for them to standardise on tender to loco plugs.

We've also been asking for them to standardise on circuit boards.

The decapod and the 2-8-0 have the same female connectors in the tender.

The 2-8-0, 2-10-0, and 4-8-2 USRA light are all compatable - but the wires are reversed with the 4-8-2, which accounts for the female plugs and dual plug wires for the short Vanderbilt tender.

With the Russian tender attached to the 2-8-0 it will fit on the Atlas turntable, with the stock tender the 2-8-0 is too long.

Why not just kitbash the 2-8-0 tender and remove six scale feet from it.

Easy enough to do, I've done several.  See photo below: -

I'm glad to see an older thread revived. Bashing tenders is one of my favorite projects.

I agree the USRA tender is easy to shorten 1/2" to 3/4". I chopped 3 for Lanny and a couple for myself.  We also added  high bunkers (IC Paducah style) and added brass ladders / details. They do look great behind a Connie.

The high bunker also provides more room for a speaker, possibly even the sound decoder.

I also built a couple shorties from scratch, including chassis, shell and high bunker. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.
