installing DCC unit in 3-truck SHAY

Might sound like a stupid question, HOW do I open the water tank assembly to put a decoder in this engine???

Have my tools ready when answer arrives

It's not an overly difficult task.....just a tad fiddly.

1...Flip your shay upside down in a foam cradle.

2...Gently remove the ladder from the rear of the tank.

3...Remove the rear truck.

4...Disconnect the drawbar from the main chassis, and remove the electrical plugs from bottom of tank.

5...Remove the screw that holds the tank to it's frame. There are two "clips" at rear of tank and a screw towards the front.

6...Gently lift the tank off the frame.

7...You will see the 8pin socket on the circuit board.....remove the jumper plug that is installed from factory, and install you decoder.

Reverse steps for reassembly.
