Spectrum Baldwin 4-6-0

My new 4-6-0 runs inconsistently, slowing down on straightaways and speeding up on turns. Any suggestions, or does it just need a drop of oil?

Check the pickup wipers on the loco.
They may need to be spread out just a little more.

Also make sure the area on the back of the drivers where
the wipers make contact is clean.

yes,check wipers, or the valve gear could have more freedom on a curve than the tangents if that is bend or binding. Lay it on its back and look over these parts good,or,,how new is it?
