You are correct in that the ATSF operated this type of locomotive. Based on the rules, you may post the next photo. You can pass, and posting the next photo will be up for grabs.

oh its a 4-6-2
and if I am still wrong then my ext guess is a 2-8-2

Sam Clavis

Yes it is a 4-6-2. No one will know the class (other than me) so you got it right unless you want to try guessing the class.

I was looking forward to participating in this game (by the way, great idea Guilford), but my first day back on the board has not seen one post on this topic.  :'(  >:(  My patience is getting stronger with all this exercise.

Western Maryland #6.
1. the last Shay ever built. (1945)
2. the largest surviving Shay.

She is often referred to as "the largest shay ever built"..but this is untrue. The largest Shay (as built new) was s/n 2570, Kansas City Southern #900, built in 1913.

The heaviest Shay ever was a 4-truck Shay built by the Mower Lumber Co. modified from a 3-truck Shay. but it was not that large when built by Lima, it was modified later.

ok, here is the next one!

This particular flavor of ten-wheeler was unique to one railroad and one builder..when I first saw pics of these engines, I thought maybe they were originally 4-8-0's and had the front driver removed! that gap is quite odd..
but they were designed and built as 4-6-0's..

Railroad and Builder?
