Metal Slide In Turnout Solenoids

I'm in need of a couple of the metal slides that go into the solenoids. I have the solenoids. Not sure where the metal slides disappeared to. Any suggestions.

Also, has anybody replaced the Bachmann solenoids with another type of turnout control?
