Bachmann Ez Command Plus system fried?

Hello, I received a DCC Bachmann Ez Command Plus system with the Digital Commander set about 3 years ago. It had been treating me well with no issues but I recently got back into the hobby and started building my first layout on a 4x8. For the last couple weeks I've been running trains on my Ez track layout with no issues. Last night though, I ran a train with a WALTHERS SD70M that I bought last Saturday. I reversed the engine and went to pull forward but nothing happened. The controller completely stopped working. I thought maybe it shorted out some made sure I didn't derail or short on a switch but sure enough this was not the issue. I took the entire train off the layout and tested the locomotive with my DC controller to see if it would run. It did not but I'm not 100% sure why because it is DCC Sound but I am not sure if it even can run on DC. Regardless I tested my other locomotives with the Ez Command controller to see if it was the locomotive that had an issue and they also did not move. There is no burning plastic smell or any sign of a short so I am really clueless as to what happened. The lights do still work on the controller but any commands I put into the controller don't go to the locomotives or dcc turnouts. If anyone could help me find a solution or at least tell me what might've happened, that would be much obliged.
