I have a G scale Gold Rush train set #90022, but I cannot find the transformer can someone give the specs for a transformer that would work for this set.

HI,  The one that came with your set is one amp.  Any Transformer with 1 amp or more will be fine for your set.

Take care,

The latest basic unit is BACHMANN 44217 POWER PACK

Available at Bachmann parts store (about $68 plus shipping):
https://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=5873

Can also find on eBay for around $55 (watch out for high priced scalpers)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/205197766697?_skw=bachmann+44217&itmmeta=01JH13TR7XBB7CTM931GTQQH1T&hash=item2fc6bd7029:g:QQAAAOSwpQxndH~D&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmyhDGsZ3lCPHi227LpHKEuT6wiLZnOZ%2Bi%2BWdq1BO1W0Ch2or8QHJo2a9eVHf8sY13pVSXD7eMXBNsiSohgTedTtQJG3hsBFgqCpxEkVsocF753BJs4oLl1TJtsB2hD2DZKbVVUPN3MhSW8uV236u7fYYJVAOg1Kbl8whaZ9R92cD4vW5BcLbF5mY6hDTcHeBj95zQU4kIz%2B3iUm%2FNFqMjI9fSQIX3XaGMj%2F90had10uGpe345fOOq9tbvxxJTkmvHo767bEjBu5Zj5J3eiAYX6vPdFt4UrBBBVHlk6%2FPvmuw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4SE66OIZQ

Various online Train stores for $65 to $70.

Now, Piko makes a basic 1.5A (amp) unit but it will cost you $115 plus shipping from OnlyTrains (Piko 35027 45 Watt Analog Power Set 120V)

Keeping the price under $100 is virtually impossible, so if it is simply you want a way to run a single Bachmann 4-6-0 under the Christmas tree, etc. Then the Bachmann will serve your needs. If you're going big or going outside, you'll need to spend more money.
