I have a Pittsburgh Steelers Bachmann HO Set that although purchased a number of years ago has never been used. It has a total of 11 cars which includes two engines, 6 Dome Passenger Cars, a box car, a flat bed with search light and caboose. Has the power pack along with 15 straight pieces of EZ-Track, 16 curved pieces of EZ-Track, a EZ-Track Coupler and 3 EZ-Track switching tracks. Trying to determine what the value of the set might be? Can anybody out there provide any insight? Thanks in advance for any help. PS I have the certificates of authenticity the cars.

Not as much as you might think. Unlike some older O gauge equpment, HO stuff doesn't have a lot of collectable value. And since there is no actual Pittsburgh Steelers prototype train, those "Certificates of Authenticity" are just a Hawthorne Village sales gimic.

Unless someone is a hard core Steelers fan who just has to have it, regardless of cost, $100 - $150 would probably be reasonable for the set, assuming the loco runs. If the switches are remote control, rather than manual, it could go for up to $200. Any more than that is someone's fantasy on eBay.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

If it is like the MN Vikings train I had...it's likely only powered by one truck

Mine lasted a few hours at best before it gave up completely

Best scenario is a "shelf queen" for a team fan

Agreed. Most of the value for the set is in the Nickle Silver EZ-Track that's included.
