Like QSI, WOW appears to need a scientist to negotiate it.  Shoulda stuck with Soundtraxx.  This change may keep me away from the reissue decapod, as much as I wanted one.

I've been looking at videos.  If I'm not mistaken, this system appears to have its own "remote " to make changes.  Does it?  Or not?  I don't want to have to carry something besides a cab when operating if I want to change a whistle or something like that.

Programming WOW decoders can be done with any NMRA compliant DCC controller capable of programming CV's. TCS now offers their own throttle, but it's not necessary to program WOW decoders.

The 'Programming Tool' mentioned in the WOW documentation is an on-line calculator in the WOW Sound section of the TCS web page. It makes it a lot simpler to figure out what values to place in the "indexed" CV's (201 -204) to load sounds from the 65,000 available.

It's actually easier to use the 'audio assist' feature, and let the decoder itself talk you through the process. In particular, there are a number of video tutorials on using the built in 'Audio Assist' to let the decoder talk you through the programing.

I wanted to see cv values for the 40 whistles they claim to have but couldn't find them in the manual.  Nor the bells or the chuffs.  I'm leery of this.  I really want to see a WOW equipped engine and try it out before I drop Big Coin on it.  Unlikely in the model railroad desert of the Deep South.
