DCC Ready Alco FB2

I bought an Alco FB2 DCC ready locomotive. Removed body to install a decoder but could not find plug. Saw something which looked like it had 8 connections but was not a plug and appears to be permanently soldered to circuit board.   Any ideas on how to install decoder in this locomotive? Thanks

Your circuit board should look like this one. In the center is a jumper plug made from PCB material. Remove that jumper plug by pulling straight up.

Your decoder will plug into the 8 pin socket underneath.

Any dcc decoder with 8 pin will work. Just remember to install correctly. Pin 1 is orange. There should be a 1 on the top of the board.  Joe

Many thanks. I was afraid if I removed that part, I would destroy the circuit board
