Swapping shells?

Is it possible to shell swap certain Bachmann sound equipped locomotives? Case in point, I was looking at my FA & wondering if the RS3 shell would fit over the running gear of it. I don't want to take it all apart if it won't fit, that just seems like overkill if it won't fit. Has anyone here done this or tried to attempt it?

Sounds like a dumb question, but I've been pondering it for a couple days, figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

SOme shells can be swapped between frames. GP38-2/GP40/GP50 for example, or GP30/GP35. But you can't swap shells between a cab type unit like the FA2 and a hood type like the RS3. The Cab unit frames are much wider than the hood unit frames.
