I have to say that I had a great similar experience with the service department.  I bought a discontinued Bachmann engine that broke a crosshead guide 2 or 3 days past the discount house return policy time period.  I couldn't return it to Bachmann because they had none left in stock nor the replacement part.  The Bach Man stepped up to the plate and made a call to the discount house to arrange the replacement.  I am very pleased with that level of service and with the engine which is satisfactorily running out miles on my local freights to this day.
