Train slows but wont stop

Set up a Echo Valley train set DCC EZ controller..Everything works fine and seems to be a great starter set ecept for one issue. The locomotive sometimes will not stop when controller is hard over to stop..Train keeps crawling.  Other times it will stop when directed to..frustrating..Return set to Amazon or get help here.....

It would be easier to diagnose the problem if you had a second DCC locomotive or DCC controller.

It could be a glitch in the locomotive's decoder, which can usually be fixed by resetting it, or possibly the locomotive is set for 128 speed steps and the controller is converting to 28 steps incorrectly.

Sadly the E-Z Command controller is a VERY basic system, and does not give full access to decoder Configuration Variables such as factory reset or the number of speed steps to use.



Perhaps you can find somebody in your area with a 'full featured' DCC controller such as a NCE 'Power Cab' or Digitrax 'Zephyr' or 'Zephyr Xtra' who can reset the loco and make sure it's on 28 speed steps.
