Do the latest run of 2-6-6-2s support the 2-4-4-2 sound module?

I just ordered a 12-driver articulated, and looking at the exploded view diagram the tender appears to have a speaker installed and the 21-pin interface.

If it doesn't support the module, would I be able to swap the tender for a 2-4-4-2's without modifying the wiring harness and get sound that way?

The pcb's of the 2-4-4-2 and the 2-6-6-2 are the same.
I think the sound pcb's are one and the same for both.
