Bachmann Power Pack and Speed controller No.44212

Having electrical problems and in the process of elimination find that its the Power Pack and Speed Controller. After disconnecting it from my layout and plugging it in I find that both power pack and controller are heating up to a point that both units are very hot. Would you say that this unit is toast??? What should I do???

If it's under warranty I would contact Bachmann. 

Otherwise I would replace it with a new unit MRC is probably the best out there.
