Bought two of em last weekend, B&O 1400 (which I noticed has a different boiler/dome arrangement) and an Undec, turned the undec into Strasburg 98 as seen below. I know its not 100% accurate, but well i'm not a nit picker and I needed another engine to pull some of the Strasburg Coaches i have.

I got the B&O #1400 for Christmas.  DCC only, tho'.  Nice job on the Strasburg!  Is there a plug and play sound decoder that one could purchase to have sound in addition to the DCC?  I think I saw a thread on this elsewhere, but it dated back at least 3 if not 4 years ago when there wasn't anything available.

;DHappy New Year! ;D

I'm not sure about the sound, i unplugged the dcc and put in the jumpers since i do dc right now

I also bought a 4-4-0 dcc. But am using dc. Should I not have plugged in the wires from the coal tender to the loco????

You have to in order for the engine to run, BUT if you look at the diagram it gives instructions for removing the DCC Decoder(in the tender) and adding Jumper plugs(included with the engine in a little bag), you will notice a difference in operation since it wont take as much power to get moving.

Thanks for the  infoe. I was wondering why the loco needed much more power to get moving.

johnH123

is it one of the new tooling locomotives?

jlc41

I don't know about new tooling, How do I find out. I just bought it 3 weeks ago. I see what looks like 3 pronged jumpers in the bag. But I don't see a dummy plug, or is that whats left when you remove the decoder.

The prongs are what convert the engine from dcc to dc. You place them in the 8 pin plug where you unplug the decoder......instructions for pin placement are in the exploaded diagram
