Are there instructions on how to disassemble a SPECTRUM USRA LIGHT MOUNTAIN 4-8-2, Item #81601

Simple answer, no.  There are no disassembly instructions for any Bachmann locomotive nor most other manufacturers loco either.

People usually follow the exploded diagram that came with the loco which is also is available somewhere on line and figure it out from there.

As Roger said in so many words, this is model railroading. We figure it out or maybe someone has done it.

Is it the loco or tender you want to take apart?

Spookshow has a little info on the loco. A quick Google search for shell removal showed up this link.
