You sure did, Sid.  Problem was, I wasn't experienced enough to know the universal could be dis-assembled.  Like the truck removal advice, I didn't push or pull too hard on the parts. It was only when I pulled one time on the drive shaft to many that the universal housing came off, and I realized the problem had gone full circle: back to your advice.

So it all worked out just peachy-keen.
