Updated Mogul Update

I spoke (briefly, as my kids were pulling me in different directions) to Bachmann at the National Garden Railway Convention today about the updated mogul. They're expecting it out around December, and confirmed it will have updated electronics and mechanics. (Yay!) Unknown if the mechanics can easily be retrofitted into the old moguls. They said they'd look into that. I didn't ask about anything new coming down the pike, but since the moguls were announced last summer and still not yet here, I figured even if there was something new in the works, I'd have time to save my pennies.

On a side note, dealers at the convention said Bachmann's new switch machines are proving very popular.

I got The same info as Kevin, and was also told that the large scale sales among all manufacturers was very soft.  I was also told there is nothing new coming along soon other than the Moguls.

Thanks for the report Kevin and Bill.  Great to hear that the new Mogul will be a good buy (quality wise).  Not a surprise to hear that the show was soft on sales.  They keep telling us the economy is improving, but I seem to have less and less spendable income. Hmmmm.

Which Mogul?
"spectrum mogul" or "industrial mogul"?

Sales at the show were great and there were some great deals, but year around sales have been soft for most of Large scale.

Spectrum mogul, it will have the new socket, and many new parts.  Down load the 2015 catalog and the details are on page S41.

Is this locomotive to be fitted with metal gears?

Fantastic!

This will be a great engine, from the sound of things.

I hope the new Airwire plug-in-play decoder for the K-27 & C-19 will also work for the 2-6-0. I already have the Emma Neveda on order, but now I might have to order the Eureka & Palisade one also!

Not possible for me to do that: download requires Adobe Flash and Flash no longer works with my 7 year old Windows Vista 64 bit, only works with 32 bit. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html

Electronically, it should; at least that's the sense I got from the Airwire folks. Whether it fits in the 2-6-0 tender is a whole different question.
