Synthetic oils

Hello, what are the ongoing thoughts on using synthetic oils on both DC and DCC locos? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Fact:
Synthetic oil used as lubricant on any model railroading locomotive is acceptable if it meets these three restrictions,
   1)   It is plastic compatible
   2)   It is formulated for the purpose used
   3)   You apply only the recommend amount, or less, to lube points.
