Whst would be your ideal layout?

My ideal layout would be one where ballast never migrates into switch and crossing frogs and guardrails, and the track never has to be cleaned.

Jeff I remember the pics of your dad's, it was awesome! I have to agree bigger is not all ways better. I am in the process of redoing my trackage as I have too much too many.
Jeff I wish you had a track plan to share as I loved the few pics you provided.

I don't have a copy of the track plan, but it appeared in model railroad planning 2006, I believe page 64. what I can do later is try to draw a schematic diagram showing where all the various branches go to.

next time I get out there I will try to take some more photos.
