EZ TRack Command Switches

I am about to set up a train track board. How do you activate the Command Switches? Do I assume that they can be controlled by the EZ Command console?

Two basic types.. One works with the supplied switch powered through a separate power source and the other is DCC on Board and the power comes from the command stations power supply and can be operated through your command station.
