Swapping 2-10-2 tenders

I've got a n scale 2-10-2 I need to put the USRA medium tender on.
It has the 6 pin connector inside, but it's not DCC.
Not having DCC is not an issue, none of the layouts I run on use it.
Will the Bachmann 2-10-2 run OK with the USRA medium tender with 6 pin hook up?

I put a -bought new western Maryland tender on my 2-10-2 but I hard wire chipped it .
there is no socket for the chip it must be hard wired .

there are clips connecting the board contacts so it will run on 12 volt DC 

simply plug the loco wire into the tender - the tender top may have to be removed ?
