You never mentioned what scale your locomotive is. If it is N scale then it would be very difficult and ill advised, especially without a spectrum tender.
if your locomotive is HO scale then I suggest purchasing one that already has DCC. The 0-6-0Ts all have DCC and Bachmann makes a good variety of 0-6-0s that already have DCC factory installed. If you want to put DCC in a DC HO 0-6-0, you will likely spend $20-40 for a decoder, then an additional $10-20 adding power pick up to the tender. And that is assuming you sucessfully hardwire the decoder without damaging the locomotive or decoder. If you need to ask for instructions then it is ill advised to convert this particular locomotive for your first DCC install. Perhaps start with something that includes soldiering pads or is otherwise DCC ready.
