Bachmann Spectrum Clinchfield 2-8-0, won’t move

Someone mentioned a tender swap. I tried the with a Bachmann USRA tender some years ago and a small driver 4-6-0 with LED. What a trial. That tender is not available anymore as far as I know.
The tender came with a cable adapter that swapped all three functions and not for an LED loco, only a twelve volt light bulb loco.
I had to rewire the tender to continue to use the original tender when I wanted to. I did document everything.
A resistor was added so the loco light would dim in reverse. so I cut the PC board foil. I believe last pin on the socket was used but do not remember what for. I would have to look into the external hard drive circuit.
