This parts 2-8-0 came in the mail last week.

I found that the motor worked fine after replacing brushes and springs from another parts 2-8-0

I put power to the brushes with the wheels connected and the drive wheel (rear set) turns fine but must not have something lined up right because the other wheels do not revolve but go back and forth.

I read another post about quatering and does one side have to be 90 degrees off?  Please detail.

Also, does the power pick up from the wheels only or is there supposed to be another pickup?

Thanks in advance for your expertise--newbie repair man.

Only the drivers pickup. Look at the diagram. A plastic drawbar for the tender. Plastic wheels also on the tender.
Buy a NWSL quarterer. Makes it a little easier. I did that years ago. Part of model railroading.

Hey Rich,

I figured out the repair job, had to read 200 posts.  I made a youtube video showing the differences between two vintage loco's, also how to dis assemble and quarter the wheels without buying some sort of gimmick.  It is not rocket science.

The front truck also has a pickup for one side, also shown on the video.  The schematics are not perfect.

Thanks for reading.

If anyone else is interesting in fixing up their old models, I made series of videos that really takes the mystery out of it.  This installment shows how to quarter the wheels and reassemble the machine:

I hope this helps someone keep their vintage Bachmann on the tracks!
