Trouble with power to EZ track

Train only gets power about 6 to 10 inches from source in either direction(basic circle). Have replaced all track and bought a new speed controller. no change.  Any ideas?

Is the wall electrical outlet wired to a dimmer switch?

Have someone with the knowhow and right test equipment check the output at the wall electrical outlet and check the output of the transformer to the speed controller.

Other than that, make sure your rail joiners are tight.

   You're rail joiners are loose and not conducting power . They are the little metal things on the ends of the track pieces. You should probably go to you're hobby shop and get some new ones. Better yet ask about Kato Unitrack, its the best for a starter set and will always work.....Mike

 Since you replaced the track that should give you new rail joiners. But what do you mean by replacing speed controller?? Are you referring to a power pack (train transformer designed for model trains) or something else?? The only thing you haven't checked is your loco. Is it running correctly and have you cleaned the wheels? If your using a loco from a train set  I have that checked.  Depending on the manufacturer some locos in train sets are poorly made and don't run very well right out of the box. Best manufacturers of locos are Atlas, Kato. Lifelike Proto, Bachmann Spectrum. If the loco isn't made to quality it will not run properly and studder on the track running on a few inches and stopping.

And the connection from the power supply to the track itself.
