Power booster and DCC command

Hi folks.  After my kids get so many different trains, I finally broke down and get the Bachmann power booster.  I am having trouble on how to hook up the wires to the track.  The wires come with the booster is bare on both side.  I don't see where I can screw the wire in on the track.  I have another set of wire which has a plug on one end and bare on the other end but it is much thinner than the one come with the booster.  Is it safe to use those wires?  Those wires come from Bachmann first train track set.

I've used the EZ Command red power wire with bare wires and black plugin to connect the booster to EZ track power rerailer for several years with no problems.  See 2007 post discussion titled "Bachmann 5 Amp Booster" for more info.
