to elaborate on sid's answer, it appears the powertrain track has plastic rails. ho trains run on electricity transmitted through metal rails, not battery power. this alone would preclude the use of powertrain track.

and we haven't even gotten into questions about track guage (width) or sharpness of curves. it appears that even if the track guage is correct (a mighty big if...) the curves appear to be way too sharp to run HO trains, which generally need at least a 36" diameter curve to run well.
