HO scale 8-40C headlight

I have a Bachmann 8-40C and noticed that the headlight is barely visible through the headlight lens compared to the 8-40CW which is very brite. The 8-40C does not have DCC.

Just a guess. Well, two guesses. Perhaps your LED has shifted its position so it doesn't sit right behind the opening or maybe the dimmer LED is an older one. Today's LEDs are very bright. Are both lights on the 8-40C equally dim?

The light on the opposite end is bright when I run the loco backwards.
