I have 2 diesels with decoders. One has sound the other does not. How do I match the speeds so they run good together. I will be using Sprog 2 to program them. Thanks

One method (not the only one, I know) is to use the speed curve in Decoder Pro. Choose one loco as your base unit, time it over a given length of track, then adjust each speed point on the speed curve on the other loco so that the time taken for that particular speed step matches. Can do it without Decoder Pro, just have to remember your speed curve CVs (CVs 64 - 92 or similar IIRC, check your decoders manual) and then adjust CV29 so that the loco uses your speed curve.

I time them over a measured section of track with a stopwatch. in my case the section is 6 feet, or approximately 1/10 scale mile. I then compare the two speeds, and calculate a percentage ratio between the two. if the faster locomotive runs 10% faster than the slower one, I reduce its cv speed table values by 10%.
