will ez mate couplers work in old rapido style trucks?

I have 30+ cars with rapido style trucks and want to use the ez mate couplers.  Do not want the expense of replacing the trucks, so, can I remove the spring and hook coupler replacing with the EZ mate magnetic coupler?

Nope. Your only other option is unimate non functioning couplers from red caboose.  Bachmann has a non functioning knuckles that will fit but they end too low for all other brands of couplers and will cause headaches.

I have one box car in my rolling stock that has EZ Mate/ MicroTrains knuckle style coupler on on end and the rapido on the other. It lets me mix and match. Probably doesn't help much but it's my 2 centavos.
