The difference between the Commander and Commander Deluxe

Is the DCC controller different in the sets with 2 engines?   If they are backwards compatible, can I put a DC engine on the track with the DCC engine?

Dak-

No. Both use the excellent Dynamis system. While you can use one DC locomotive with the elementary EZCommand system, it's my
understanding that Dynamis operates only DCC locos. I'll be corrected, probably within minutes, if I am misapprehended.
