how many cars can this engine pull?  or do all bachmann 4-8-4's pull the same ? im goning to buy a bachmann dcc  4-8-4 n&w j soon just wondering how are  good Spectrum 4-8-4's?

How steep are the grades on your layout?  How sharp are the curves?  The combination of these two factors will contribute to the equation about how many cars it can pull.  Also, what type of cars do you plan to pull?  Are they free rolling?  How much do they weigh?  A loco that can pull 30 cars on straight and level track will only be able to pull a fraction of that number on a steep grade with tight curves.

i don't have any grades all my curves are 22'' radius and i do run 4-8-4s right now just wondering how good was the 4-8-4 j

There are item to item variations in pulling power, tolerance for curves and even such things as lighting
functions which no one seems to understand. It's obviously due to manufacturing differences but that
seems so unlikely.
