Hi there, can anyone answer my question as to why my Bachmann Tornado 60163 seems to not have as much power since chipping it & why it struggles to pull a six rake of coaches, also after chipping my standard five i have the same problem and when you decrease power to a halt it suddenly lurches forward then stops again, Tornado is fitted with a 21 pin 36-554 decoder & Standard five with a 36-553 8 pin harness. Thanks for reading. :)

DC controllers usually give out a higher voltage than the 12v nominal that they are supposed to. That's why DC locos can go so fast.  A DCC decoders power is more regulated and doesn't give out such a high voltage.
The answer for you other questions depends on the DCC controller you are using.

Thanks for reading my comment, i am currently using Dynamis. i have only just switched to Dcc & have three Deltics chipped that pull 12 coaches easily, it just seems to be these two steamers. Thanks
Tony.

Not uncommon. If you have spent any time reading post on this site you will find that some engines pull better then others under the exact same circumstances.

That is just some thing you get used to.

Now saying this some one else may come up with some helpful information.

Altering the CV values may help. I haven't got the exact settings for the Tornado, but these ones for other Bachmann steam locos may help. http://www.bachmann.co.uk/pdfs/decoder_settings.pdf
I'd suggest trying the settings for the Standard 4 4-6-0 first.
